Course details

Come and join this 1-day course on digital painting. You’ll learn to set up and use a drawing tablet, then will be taught to make your own digital brushes from marks made using traditional media, create textured brushes, and use Mixer brushes to blend using wet brush techniques.

We’ll cover how to make limited colour palettes that will improve digital paintings of any subject or style. We’ll make or select a textured ‘ground’ to paint onto. Once you are confident exploring digital mark making with textures, you’ll create a digital painting from a reference source .

Finally, we’ll support you to use all the painting skills you’ve learned through the day (and your new digital brushes) to paint a digital painting from photographic reference. Bring a photo with you or use online reference on the day.

At the end of the day, you’ll take home 5 digital print copies of your work and a useful pack of custom Photoshop brushes.
