Course overview
Understand the importance of sustainability in Cornish businesses with a specific focus on the wider visitor economy on this one-day short course.
During this intensive workshop, you will get equipped with the tools to measure and manage sustainability impact within your organisation.
Co-developed by experienced subject specialists from Falmouth University, you will develop a real-world action plan to promote sustainable practices for an existing or future business or project, helping to enhance Cornwall's reputation as a responsible tourism destination.
You will:
- Learn about the environmental, economic and social sustainability principles relevant to the visitor economy.
- Analyse the impact of visitor economy activities in Cornwall in terms of carbon emissions, nature and biodiversity, using recognised tools and models.
- Learn how the visitor economy influences broader systems, and the opportunities for positive impacts this brings.
- Create a customised action plan with practical steps for promoting sustainable visitor economy practices within your business or organisation and across the sector in Cornwall.

Who is this course for?
This course is designed for professionals and stakeholders from the wider visitor economy sector in Cornwall, including hotels, restaurants, attractions, tour operators, transportation, and the local authority as well as relevant businesses.
It may also be of interest to recent graduates, or individuals interested in making positive impacts within businesses.
Course structure & information
The training will last around 6 hours in total, in addition to an hour for lunch and networking.
Arrival: 9:30am (welcome and coffee)
Start: 10:00am
End: 4:00pm

All required equipment and materials required are provided, but if you prefer to use your own:
- Paper and pens if preferred
- Laptop for note taking
All materials and specialist tools and equipment required are included in the course fee, however you may wish to bring your own laptops/notepads/pens for additional note making.
We are happy to reimburse local public transport costs for those able to arrive on Public Transport.
