​​Discover the power of creativity and being in the outdoors to enhance your wellbeing in our online two-week creative wellbeing course.

Activities in creative writing, drawing and photography will encourage you to get outdoors into green and blue spaces such as parks, gardens, rivers or on the coast, which have been proven to positively impact your health and develop agency and social connections. 

​The course is developed with leading creative practitioners in drawing, photography and creative writing from Falmouth University, who previously contributed to a two-year research project, which delivered measurable improvements to participants wellbeing.  

​This course should take around four hours per week and is perfect for anyone seeking to reconnect with nature, build confidence, destress or simply find a creative outlet.

​​Using the NHS’s Five Steps to Wellbeing—noticing, skill-building, connecting, being active, and giving—this course blends structured, non-assessed learning with process-driven creative exercises.

Over four hours each week you'll be guided through practical activities designed to improve your wellbeing.  ​

How you'll learn

​​Using Falmouth University’s custom built virtual learning environment, you’ll be guided through weekly creative activities aimed at boosting your wellbeing. In each of the two weeks there is a one-hour live webinar to help consolidate learning and provides a forum for connecting and sharing. Webinars are recorded for those who are unable to attend.​

Course outline

​​Each week will require approximately four hours of study. Three hours of which will be guided study within the online learning environment and undertaking creative activities, one hour is a live webinar where you will undertake activities with your tutor, ask questions about your learning and have the opportunity to engage with other students. The webinars are recorded so you’ll be able to catch-up if you’re not able to attend.   

​On completion of the course, you’ll gain a certificate of completion from Falmouth University.  

​Throughout this online course you’ll be exposed to a range of creative techniques that can boost and improve your wellbeing.  

​Unlock the power of creativity to enhance your mental and emotional wellbeing with our immersive Wellbeing Through Creativity course. This holistic program connects nature, mindfulness and artistic expression, offering a wide range of activities designed to nurture your soul, reduce stress and boost self-awareness.  

​Over the two weeks of this course you’ll learn about a range of  creative techniques and you could undertake activities including:  

Whether it’s flowing freely on paper or crafting a Haiku, you’ll discover the joy of spontaneous writing and transformational poetry that can help heal and inspire.  

Engage in creative practices such as experimental and documentary photography, continuous line drawing, and blind contour drawing—all designed to help you focus on the present moment while creating meaningful art.  

Experiment with basic photography as you explore how combining text and visuals can tell powerful stories.  

Learn from creative visionaries who are passionate about preserving nature and be inspired to reflect on your own role in protecting the environment.  

Craft unique, personalised reminder cards and engage in mindful pattern & mark making to develop ongoing practices that help you stay grounded.  

​Through a blend of reflective practices, experimental techniques, and creative exploration, this course will empower you to not only nurture your wellbeing but also discover how creativity can transform your connection to the world around you.

This is a fully online course and can be undertaken from any location with a suitable internet connection. To fully participate, having access to green spaces such as parks and woods will be beneficial.

​​Upon completion of this course you will receive a certificate of completion issues by Falmouth University and a Digital badge.​
