Course overview

Develop the skills and knowledge to become a sustainability champion within your business, organisation or local area on this one-day short course.

During this intensive workshop focused on the visitor economy, you will learn about key leadership principles and strategies to drive and deliver sustainable change through exploring successful collaborative and grassroots approaches. 

Co-developed by experienced subject specialists from Falmouth University, you will discover how to influence and impact the sustainability of key areas of your organisation, and how to effectively promote it to customers. 

You will:

  • Understand leadership principles and strategies for driving sustainable change and influencing decision-making. 
  • Learn how to benchmark your organisation's sustainability performance in areas including supply chain, travel, and customer awareness. 
  • Gain insights into sustainable business practices relevant to the visitor economy.  
  • Be able to identify, act on, and benefit from sustainable business opportunities.

Who is this course for?

This course is designed for professionals and stakeholders from the visitor economy in Cornwall, including hospitality managers, tourism operators, the local authority, and business owners. 

It may also be of interest to recent graduates, individuals interested in creating sustainable change within tourism and hospitality businesses, and individuals looking to attain skills to go on to design people and culture-focused sustainability initiatives. 

Course structure & information

The training will last around 6 hours in total, in addition to an hour for lunch and networking. 

Arrival: 9:30am (welcome and coffee) 

Start: 10:00am 

End: 4:00pm

All required equipment and materials required are provided, but if you prefer to use your own:  

  • Paper and pens if preferred 
  • Laptop for note taking 

All materials and specialist tools and equipment required are included in the course fee, however you may wish to bring your own laptops/notepads/pens for addition note making. 

Parking onsite at the campus will be arranged for free.  

Lunch and tea/coffee included throughout the day on campus (all diets catered for).
