Course details

This is an intensive 10-day course studying Avid Pro Tools Fundamentals I (PT101) and Avid Pro Tools Fundamentals II (PT110). The course includes Avid Certified User Examination at the end and includes the cost of 1 retake if required.

Starting from the fundamental concepts and principals of a basic Pro Tools project, the course covers everything required to competently operate a Pro Tools system running mid-sized sessions for commercial purposes.

You’ll leave with an Avid Certified User for Pro Tools certification, verifying that you possess a fundamental understanding of, and the capability to use, Avid Pro Tools to engineer a project through to completion to a professional standard, with all of the fundamental operational skills to record, edit, mix and output the finished session.

This course is taught by our Avid-certified specialist staff at the School of Film and Television and each module is also supported by a member of our Technician team, so there’s always someone available in the room to help with queries as you learn.

The course includes your Avid course e-book (electronic format, not physical copy) for each module, exam (and 1 retake if required) and certification, and tea/coffee each day.

Please ensure that you bring a laptop or tablet which can run Adobe Digital Editions so that you can open the Avid course e-book alongside your iMac in our facilities, as the workflow windows we’ll be using on this course will utilise the two screens available on each iMac. The course e-books need to be accessed and tested before the course begins to avoid a delay being able to follow along with the exercises.

You’ll also need to set up your personal Avid account prior to the course (we provide full instructions).

We recommend that you bring a packed lunch with you, or visit one of our on-campus cafés at lunchtimes.
