Launchpad, Falmouth University’s venture studio, has joined forces with Code First Girls to offer free courses for women and non-binary Falmouth students. The courses will operate part time and are studied remotely.

Code First Girls is dedicated to transforming technology by providing the skills, space and inspiration for students who identify as women and non-binary to become developers. The partnership will increase access to the tech industry for Falmouth graduates and give budding coders the chance to learn the fundamental front-end development skills. By the end of the eight-week programme, participants will have the ability to create their very own website from scratch.

Anna Brailsford, CEO of Code First Girls, said: "We’re delighted to support the Launchpad Programme and all the entrepreneurs, innovators and inventors at Falmouth University through our Coding Kickstarter classes."

"A career in technology and entrepreneurship is one of the most rewarding paths you can take. I am personally so excited to see the impact that this partnership will have on the woman and non-binary tech leaders of the future."

James Murray, Head of the Launchpad Programme, was similarly excited by the impact that the partnership could have.

“It’s common knowledge that there’s a lack of diversity in the tech industry. We’re totally committed to bridging that gap and empowering under-represented minorities to realise their potential, embark on a career in tech and make a global impact.”
