Award-Winning Fashion Photography Graduate Continues to Rise
21 January 2019
From the age of fourteen, Sophie Webster, Fashion Photography graduate, knew she wanted to tell stories through pictures.
Sophie told us: "I’ve never been interested in how a camera works. All the mechanics and the technical side of it hold no interest for me at all. I’m driven by ideas and, as a storyteller, have always wanted my work to have a rich narrative running through it. I was lucky. I found very early on what I was good at and what I loved.”
It was this mind-set that led Sophie to study Fashion Photography, where it didn’t take long for her to make her mark. At the end of her first year, she won a prestigious competition run by Sony and House of Holland, and since then hasn’t looked back.
She added: “I graduated in 2018 and have continued to build my career in fashion photography while at the same time working as a creative director with a London agency, helping clients in London, Europe, and the Middle East bring their stories to life - including running a photoshoot in the Shard.
“I’ve loved seeing my creativity come into fruition in the real world and seeing clients become as passionate about my ideas as I am. I’ve learned how to manage copywriters, marketers, graphic designers, videographers and liaise with those working in business development.
“Falmouth was such a good breeding ground for experimenting and collaborating with others - it really helped me develop my own personal style and approach.”
