DISTANT DANCES presents an evening of live music & dance performance, initiated by dancer and choreographer Kyra Norman & musician and composer Barnaby Taylor in collaboration with an intergenerational cast of experienced, improvising dancers & musicians from around Cornwall. With live drawing by Faye Dobinson.
The evening's programme includes live instant compositions where dancers & musicians find pattern, connection, rhythm & meaning together, in the moment; together with two longer dance improvisation pieces structured by Kyra Norman in collaboration with the dancers. Original music compositions by Kath Buckler and Barnaby Taylor will utilise the venue's immersive audio to blur the line between music and natural and human soundscape.
Following the performance, there will be an opportunity for you to kick up your heels and join in the dancing in an anything-goes disco-style mode: move around and do your thing within the surround sound space.
