Two dancers in an urban setting outside, with one dancer leaning to the other with the hand on their head for support

Push is a powerful and engaging female duet, which looks at the different stances we take to understand and relate to one another.

The piece explores the complex nature of our psychology - how at times we push to exert dominance and control, and at other times choose to submit and step back.

Push is part of a trilogy, which showcases Chameleon’s athletic yet sensitive dance and movement style to look at themes within relationship interaction.

Choreography: Anthony Missen and Kevin Edward Turner
Co-commissioned by Without Walls and Dance Manchester

Umbra is a powerful and nuanced trio, delicate and explosive in equal measure.

Umbra, meaning ‘shadow’ in Latin, is a trio, which looks at the light and darkness within us. How these make us different and the same as each other.

The piece explores what we hide and what we reveal, and how behaviour changes
depending on who we are with.

Highly physical and theatrical, Umbra spotlights exclusion, and the search for
understanding and to be understood.

Fast paced and dynamic, yet delicate and sensitive, Umbra is an invitation to pause and understand ourselves better.

Choreography: Anthony Missen

About the company:

Company Chameleon is known for its unique and athletic dance style, shaped by Anthony Missen and Kevin Edward Turner. The pair met at the Trafford Youth Dance Theatre in the 1990s and trained at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance. After graduating, they worked with some of the world's most innovative dance companies and choreographers, eventually forming their own company in 2007. Today, Company Chameleon tours internationally, giving over 50 indoor and outdoor performances each year, introducing thousands of young people from all over the world to a different side of dance and movement. In 2019, Company Chameleon welcomed Dame Darcey Bussell on board as the Company’s first-ever Patron.
