Paul Russell
Course Leader - Sustainable Tourism Management and Sustainable Festival Management
Paul Russell started his career in the hospitality, tourism and events sectors after achieving undergraduate and postgraduate awards in marketing and international marketing. Paul continued to develop a passion for the operational side of the industry and made the decision to continue his professional development as a mature student in order to further enhance his operational knowledge, practical skill base and management attributes. Following this, Paul progressed into a number of management and leadership roles specialising in the management of operations and events.
Paul first became a lecturer in hospitality, tourism and events management in 2006 and has delivered a range of content that spans marketing, operations management, financial management, leadership and strategic management. During this time Paul also studied part-time for an MA in Education (Learning and Teaching Vocational Subjects) including the completion of his Master’s thesis which was titled ‘Incorporating Experiential Learning Principles into E-learning Programmes within a Vocational Education Setting’. In addition, Paul is a recognised Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Paul has lectured on hospitality, tourism and events management in a number of international destinations including Jamaica, Maldives, Mauritius, Ireland and Hong Kong and feels that the experience of working with different cultures provides an incredibly useful perspective in today's global society. Paul was appointed as Senior Lecturer in Cultural Management and Production at Falmouth University in January 2017 and has subsequently progressed to the role of Course Leader within Cornwall Business School.
