Mark Jenkin’s ENYS MEN in cinemas 13 January
05 January 2023
ENYS MEN, Mark Jenkin's highly anticipated follow-up to the BAFTA-winning BAIT, will be hitting UK cinemas on 13 January.
Jenkin’s style is so unusual, so unadorned, it feels almost like a manuscript culture of cinema. There is real artistry in it.

Shot on 16mm, ENYS MEN is a mind-bending Cornish folk horror set in 1973 that unfolds on an uninhabited island off the Cornish coast. A wildlife volunteer’s daily observations of a rare flower take a dark turn, forcing both her and viewers to question what is real and what is nightmare.
The film was written and directed by Falmouth University Distinguished Professor of Film Practice Mark Jenkin and produced by lecturer Denzil Monk (Bosena), with Film4 and in association with Falmouth University’s Sound/Image Cinema Lab.
Since its world premiere at Cannes International Film Festival in May 2022, ENYS MEN has received a wealth of critical acclaim. The Guardian's four-star review describes it as "a supremely disquieting study of solitude" and commends Mark's unique style, saying: "Jenkin’s style is so unusual, so unadorned, it feels almost like a manuscript culture of cinema. There is real artistry in it."
You can now book tickets for screenings at Merlin, WTW and independent cinemas across the country. Preview screenings, including Q&A sessions with Mark Jenkin, are also available to book.
