As ever, in Fresh from Falmouth we deliver the latest creative offerings from our incredible community. With autumn setting in, we’re reflecting on a summer of exhibitions, awards and all manner of successes for our staff, students and graduates.
What's new from our community?
Creative Events Management grads take on the Commonwealth Games
Falmouth’s Creative Events Management graduates have helped to pull together one of the biggest events in the sporting calendar: the Commonwealth Games.
Sophie Scotchford, who currently works as a project coordinator and talent lead for Birmingham Ceremonies Ltd, helped bring the curtain down on the Games. She even managed to get herself on the big screen in the process!
Graduate signed to Manic Kat Records
Creative Music Technology alumna Harri Bettsworth has been signed to Manic Kat Records, and celebrated the partnership in style by releasing her new EP, Hex Poseur.
The musician, who hails from Leicester, has unleashed five garage-rock anthems on her latest release. Listen to all the tracks below.
MA Illustration students host graduate exhibition
Last week, MA Illustration: Authorial Practice graduates pooled their years’ work to create an absolutely stunning exhibition: Unbound.
Course leader Hugh Frost said the event was “a multi-faceted group presentation of comics, graphic novels, picture books, illustrated poetry, drawing, printmaking, painting, installation work.”

Illustration graduate AOI ‘one to watch’ for 2022
Congratulations to Illustration BA(Hons) alumna Ashni Wilson, who has been listed as one of ten graduates to watch in 2022 by the Association of Illustrators!
The AOI is the professional body for illustration in the UK, so they know a thing or two about talented graduates. And if Ashni’s portfolio is anything to go by, she’s got an incredibly exciting future ahead of her – check it out here.
Graduate celebrates release of debut novel
Congratulations to English with Creative Writing graduate Frances Moloney, who has just released her first book The Mystery of the Missing Mum.
Drawing on the author's own childhood experience, the book is a humorous, fast-paced adventure as a young boy searches for his missing mother.
Into the Deep to be released in cinemas
Marine & Natural History Photography graduates Jessica Mitchell and Felicity Flashman have been working together to shoot the underwater photography for the new Sky Cinema thriller Into the Deep.
Starring Matthew Daddario, Ella-Rae Smith and Jessica Alexander, the film follows a woman desperate to leave her hometown. She meets a stranger who promises a romantic escape, but it results in deceit, mistrust and violence.
