Collaboration is central to the student experience at Falmouth, and earlier this month a team of third year Creative Events Management BA students teamed up with 12 of Falmouth’s student societies to host a range of activities for local 11–16-year-olds.

The event was designed to offer children a chance to experience everything from immersive gaming to wildlife care. Students worked with a variety of student societies to bring their vision to life, including Anime & Manga, Equity Ambassadors, Bee Society, Generation Wild, The Creature Feature Show, Ladies Bathroom Events, Multisports, Games Academy, Source FM, Film & TV, Illustration, and Dance.

The students encouraged the children to get involved in a range of activities, allowing them to tap into their own creativity and have fun while doing so. From VR headsets and gaming consoles from the Gaming Society, to live films, mapmaking, and the chance to meet a bearded dragon, the event highlighted what Falmouth has to offer – an avenue of possibilities.

The event was held at the Dracaena Centre in Falmouth, Xplore Falmouth, a community hub that hosts everything from for from support services to sports activities. Kate Springfield, the Families & Development Manager complimented the team on the professional way they planned and delivered their event.

Matt Kirby, course leader for Creative Events Management BA(Hons), said: “The practice of learning by doing real-life events equips our event management students with essential skills, practical experience, and industry insights that cannot be fully replicated in a classroom setting. This experiential learning approach is crucial for their professional growth and preparedness for successful careers in event management.”
