AMATA to live stream performances at Edinburgh Festival Fringe

In partnership with Pleasance Theatre Trust, Falmouth University’s live performance venue AMATA will be live-streaming performances from three Cornish Theatre companies, and six companies in total, at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.  

The Arts Council England National Lottery Project Grant has been awarded to AMATA to develop and present a series of satellite, digital showcases. The performances will be streamed live to global audiences and industry via the Pleasance’s online platforms and at three ‘live sites’ at Edinburgh, London and AMATA. The programme will also include work by companies creating work specifically for online audiences. 

AMATA’s Programme Manager, Tamsin Godfrey, told us “we are delighted to have been awarded this grant to help companies overcome some of the challenges they face in presenting their work in person at the Fringe this year, whilst ensuring that audiences and industry can connect with their work despite ongoing travel restrictions.” 

The Pleasance Theatre Trust’s Head of Theatre, Nic Connaughton, added “supporting emerging companies and new voices across the UK is part of the Pleasance DNA, and we are delighted to be working with AMATA on this exciting digital pilot. Following a year of no live performance, this feels like a really exciting opportunity to explore how digital and live performance can complement each other.”
