Launchpad Futures hosts Behavioural Science for Business workshop with Ogilvy consultant David Fanner

In collaboration with the Faculty of Creative Arts & Communication, Launchpad Futures, Falmouth's project to drive business growth in Cornwall, hosted ten Cornish businesses for a knowledge exchange workshop.

Launchpad Futures offers a unique opportunity for Falmouth's community to engage in knowledge exchange that delivers positive economic, environmental and societal impact for Cornwall. 

In collaboration with the Faculty of Creative Arts & Communication, Ogilvy Consultant (and Falmouth Creative Advertising graduate) David Fanner came to Falmouth to give a workshop on Behavioural Science for Business. 

A wide variety of Cornish businesses attended the workshop, including Seasalt, Eden Project and St. Austell Printing Company. 

The businesses that attended the workshop left with a plan to solve a problem their business is facing, guided by a framework built around understanding and influencing human behaviour. 

"It takes a special type of organisation to unlock the gold at the intersection of academia and application, and Launchpad does it exceptionally well," said Fanner. "It is clear that Launchpad serves a very useful function to Cornish businesses, be it brokering relationships, advising or simply offering a warm and professional space for meetings." 

Mandy Jandrell, Dean of the Faculty of Creative Arts & Communication, came out of the workshop with actions to take forward into the faculty. "This was a really great example of how the research and specialist expertise we have in our faculty can lead to knowledge exchange, which in turn, can support local business in real and tangible ways.

"The added bonus of the day is that new relationships have been forged, and we’re discussing a range of opportunities to further engage the creative expertise of our staff and students, in collaboration with Launchpad Futures, to support local business development and the growth of the Cornish economy."

Launchpad Futures is part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. It aims to facilitate the transfer of expertise between academics, technicians, professional services colleagues, and local industry for mutually beneficial (and hopefully long-term) relationships.
