Students from low-income backgrounds
University is for everyone, regardless of their financial background.
It’s important to get any support in place before you arrive at University, so make sure you declare your household income during the application process so that we can help you.
Support available
Choosing to invest in your education is a big decision and we offer a range of options when considering your financial options.
Our Money Matters page outlines the estimated cost of student life, as well as advice on how to budget at university.
Travel bursary
Prospective students, applicants and offer holders who fall into one of our widening participation categories, are eligible to apply for the Falmouth University Travel Fund. This can be used towards expenses for visiting Falmouth University Open Days, Applicant Days or In-Person Interviews.
Money management webinars
Our webinar series includes money management masterclasses, where you can learn tips and tricks for budgeting before university and while you attend. Our student ambassadors share their first hand experience of budgeting while at uni. The series also includes our cook-along webinar, with advice on how to eat healthily while spending less.
Bursaries, awards and other funding options
We take applications for our bursaries and awards for eligible students. These are separate from any other Government loans or grants, and - if you are successful in your application - will help you to fund your studies while at Falmouth. A bursary or award is separate from your student loan, and does not require paying back.
Websites such as the Scholarship Hub are also great places to look for more financial support and funding.
Employability
The majority of students work alongside studying, and our Employability team are here to support students find paid opportunities. From paid micro-internships to CV and interview support, they are the one stop shop for advice on finding work.
In addition, our Student Ambassador team recruit at the start of each academic year. Becoming a Student Ambassador is a great way to develop personal skills and confidence, gain valuable work experience and meet new people. You choose when you work, so it's paid work that fits around your studies and other commitments.
