A line of people dressed in black clothing doing ballet classes with a wall mounted barre looking at a mirror

A block of classes aimed at Beginners to learn the fundamentals of Classical Ballet Technique. Come and experience this timeless and beautiful art form in a safe and supportive space.

You can wear whatever you feel comfortable in as long as it allows you to move. Ballet shoes are great, but if you don’t have any then socks are fine.

About the teacher:

Amely Jane Instance LRAD Dip RTS, AISTD
Examiner for the Royal Academy of Dance

Amely trained at the College of the Royal Academy of Dance in London, graduating with Licentiateship of the Royal Academy of Dance and a Diploma in the Art of Teaching Classical Ballet in 1993.  Whilst there she studied Classical Ballet, choreography and also Contemporary Dance in Limon, Cunningham and Graham techniques, under many revered teachers including Johanne O’Hara, June Mitchell, Pippa Cobbing, Pamela May, Dr Susan Cooper and Norman Morrice.

Following graduation, Amely was a dancer in Angela Praed’s Cornish-based C.O.D Contemporary Dance Company for three years, performing and teaching workshops all over the South West and also in London and at the Glastonbury Festival in 1998.

Amely has taught Classical Ballet technique and the RAD Graded and Vocational syllabi for 27 years in various locations in England, training and entering students for RAD examinations.  She is the Ballet Technique Teacher on the BA(Hons) Dance and Choreography and BA(Hons) Musical Theatre undergraduate courses at Falmouth University.

Amely became an Examiner for the Royal Academy of Dance in 2007, assessing all levels from Pre-Primary to Advanced 2, and Discovering Repetoire.

Amely is a technique focussed teacher, but incorporating musicality and expression.  Her intention is to combine fluid and intuitive movements framed within the Classical structure, enabling the dancer to move freely and with enjoyment.
