Tilly McKerrow
Senior Lecturer
Tilly is an Illustrator and art and design educator with over 10 years of experience teaching in FE and HE. Since graduating from UWE Bristol with a degree in Illustration, Tilly worked as a freelance illustrator with clients such as Cbeebies and A productions. Since joining Falmouth University in 2011, she has taught as the pathway lead in Illustration and Animation on the Foundation Diploma as well as teaching workshops internationally in countries including Norway and Cyprus. Tilly currently leads the first year on the BA(Hons) Illustration course and has completed an MA in Illustration: Authorial Practice.
Her practice explores experimental graphic narratives triggered by humorous observation and emotional responses to place, memory and the challenges we face socially, politically and environmentally. Tilly's work also explores the potential within composition and layout creating non-traditional structures that complement the narrative. Her project 'The Lonely Gannet', a map-based story of a tragically love-struck seabird, was shortlisted for the AOI World Illustration Awards in 2019. Tilly is currently working on a multi-book project exploring fragmented narratives set in a semi fictionalised highland town.
