Course Leader, BA Acting

Matthew brings over 17 years of experience in degree-level actor training. His journey began at East 15 Acting School, where he completed the Foundation Course in Acting and earned a BA in Acting and Contemporary Theatre. He later gained a PGCE from the University of Essex and an MA in Actor Training and Coaching from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. He is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA).

As Course Leader, Matthew is passionate about creating a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment where students feel empowered to take creative risks, explore new ideas, and discover their own artistic voice. His approach to training is rooted in co-creation—working alongside students to build a sense of agency and confidence that helps them grow as performers and creative thinkers.

Matthew is committed to ensuring that the course remains dynamic and forward-looking, with a strong connection to the professional world. He is actively exploring national and international performance opportunities that will enhance both the student experience and the reputation of the programme. By working with innovative creatives and industry professionals, Matthew aims to position the course at the forefront of contemporary performance practice.

Inclusivity is a cornerstone of Matthew’s teaching. He incorporates conscious casting and curates a curriculum that reflects a diverse range of voices. He encourages students to engage with intercultural approaches to performance, creating a space where everyone can learn, contribute, and thrive.

Matthew is excited to welcome the next generation of performers to Falmouth and looks forward to helping them shape the future of the performing arts.
