Julie Fielding
Deputy Chair of the Board of Governors, and Senior Independent Member
Julie Fielding was until recently Assistant Chief Constable with Devon and Cornwall Police and led the force in Crime Investigation, Criminal Justice and Vulnerability. She has previously served with Dorset Police as the chief officer lead for People, Strategic Partnerships and Transformation, leading ambitious programmes of change and improvement to policing and public services.
Julie previously served as the policing commander for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. In this role, she worked in a range of partnerships and was a key contributor to the Health and Wellbeing Board and the Public Sector Leadership Forum working in partnership to maximise investments into the County. She led the Community Safety Partnership working with partners and communities to reduce crime and harm. Julie has worked in a variety of policing roles across Devon and Cornwall and takes a keen interest in evidence based work such as developing public health approaches in policing.
Julie holds an MBA from Exeter University. She is passionate about coaching and mentoring and led on the development of wellbeing services for officers and staff in policing.
Julie has lived in Cornwall for a number of years. Commenting on her appointment Julie said: ‘I am delighted to be appointed as an Independent Governor at the University. I look forward to joining the board on the exciting journey towards delivering the 2030 Strategy’.
