Julie Ann Monks
Lecturer
Since graduating from Kingston University in 1996, Julie worked as a freelance illustrator based in central London writing and illustrating several children's books for prominent publishers including Macmillan, Scholastic and Simon & Schuster USA.
As well as her children's book work, she also produced illustrations for a range of editorial and advertising projects including a series of advertisements for Royal Mail.
In 2005 she received a gold award for her children's book 'Winter Magic' by Scholastic at the Best of British Illustration awards UK. In 2008 she moved to Paris, France where she continued her freelance work whilst teaching in art schools based in central Paris. More recently she returned to further her study of Illustration by completing the Masters course at Falmouth University where she continued her interest in narrative, producing a short story for adults. Julie continues to teach on the BA(Hons) Illustration course, recently completing her PGCHE certificate in teaching as well as undertaking freelance commissions - her most recent for a clothing company Graniph based in Japan.
