Jennifer Neal
Associate Lecturer
Jennifer graduated from Falmouth University in 2010 and is delighted to be back teaching here. Her experience of having studied a BA(Hons) in Spatial Design: Interior and Landscape at Falmouth University, allows her to relate well to the students. She has been a visiting lecturer at Falmouth since 2013, and has experience of teaching on the Interior Architecture BA Honours course at the University of the West of England and at Plymouth College of Art.
Since graduating, Jennifer has specialised in architectural lighting design and predominantly worked in central London on national and international projects. During this time, she also gained an MSc in Light and Lighting at The Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London. After gaining experience within the architectural lighting field, she moved into energy performance lighting and worked for British Gas and E.ON, where she combined the architectural lighting with the importance of carbon reduction, resulting in highly energy efficient lighting schemes, predominantly for hospitals, including Guys and St. Thomas’ in London. She is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Building Service Engineers and the Society of Light and Lighting, of which she is the South-west Representative for.
In 2017 she went on to set up her own business, The Lighting People, which she has since sold. Jennifer has founded a second lighting business in 2022, Ecological Lighting Solutions, which focuses on creating beautiful lighting schemes which enable wildlife to thrive alongside the build environment. Jennifer enjoys working in a variety of project sectors and likes to consider how lighting can support human health.
