As a business coach I have helped more than 2,000 small businesses and startups to understand their value proposition, work out their marketing messages and how they interface with individuals from a range of customer segments.

I have a background in journalism, business and communications and have recently been involved in the design and delivery of ERDF-funded business-support programmes for start-ups in Cornwall.

I have delivered and worked as a manager for business startup and support programmes under the European Union's ERDF funding schemes including designing syllabus materials and workshops as well as business coaching.

I am a director of Eight Wire, a full-service marketing and design agency based in Falmouth which I co-founded in 2004. As well as being hugely rewarding, the business continues to give me a fabulous insight into the issues affecting small-to-medium sized businesses in the UK.

I worked as a journalist for ten years on daily and weekly newspapers before going freelance. I have also worked freelance as a features journalist and as a PR writer with work published in many UK publications. For a while I edited the monthly health and wellbeing title Vitality Matters, published by Cornish World Media and owned by mental health charity Pentreath Industries. The magazine was a project aimed at providing a team environment for people living with mental health problems and giving them an opportunity to test themselves in a working environment.

In 2015 I designed and delivered the SPARKTANK business accelerator programme for Northumbria University, Newcastle and Gateshead, which succeeded in setting up nine new businesses, five of which were trading after ten weeks.

My skills and experience include a wide range of business coaching and planning topics including digital marketing, copywriting, search engine optimisation, value proposition design and the Lean Startup.
