Senior Technician

Emilia Wharfe is a Senior Technician in digital skills for predominantly BA(Hons)/MA Illustration, however she has also lectured and been a technician for  Drawing BA(Hons) and Fine Art BA(Hons). She spends most of her time pushing the boundaries of analogue and digital process, finding ways that the two have a rapport together for various outcomes, whether print, animation, augmented reality, or publishing both physical and digitally.

She is a published illustrator and author of The Red Haze with Atlantic Press, and co-writer and researcher for The Itinerant Illustrator which was published in the Illustration Journal. She continues to freelance, working on various book covers for small press, prints to sell, writing stories and poetry and animation for both herself and other artists.

Her conceptual interests are endless, she likes to create work that crosses genres, uses complex visual language and rewriting dead metaphors. She particularly likes breaking rules and theories in colour and fostering a playful approach with the philosophy of wabi sabi at the heart of everything.
