Module Leader, Television & Film Production BA(Hons)

Lisa Socrates joined Falmouth University as an Associate Lecturer in the School for Film and Television. In September 2024 she undertook the role of Module Leader for the Collaboration module (Online). After working in television broadcasting abroad, with Channel 4 Schools and with the Media Desk of the EU, Lisa joined UCL in 2007 where she completed her PhD in Greek-Cypriot Cinema; focusing on Gilles Deleuze’s film-philosophy writings. Lisa taught film at UCL between 2008-2014, contributing to the undergraduate BA (Hons) programme in European Studies and European Cultural Studies as well as the MA Film Studies degree.

Lisa continues to be interested in notions of fictional and real time and spaces. Her monograph, published with Peter Lang in 2015 entitled Time and Space in Contemporary Greek-Cypriot Cinema fuses film theory and practice to examine the rise of a new generation of filmmakers.

Lisa lives in North London and is an active film scholar, researcher and educator. Themes of equality and diversity are central to her teaching and learning philosophy.
