Lecturer, Creative Writing BA(Hons)

Craig Barr-Green writes for page, stage and screen. In 2010 he set up Clickety Books, creating resources with speech therapists designed to boost the language development of all children and help those who need additional support. His first picture books Captured! and A Christmas in Cornwall (Mabecron Books) both won the Holyer an Gof award for best book for children. Craig later adapted A Christmas in Cornwall for stage in 2023, touring under the name Nadelik. The show features bilingual Cornish language songs, puppetry and Makaton signing. In 2021 Craig assistant directed two plays in the Ordinalia cycle: The Curing of Constantine and How St Kea Got His Lands. The show was performed in the plen-an-gwary tradition for Hall for Cornwall's Senior Youth Theatre. In 2024 he wrote and edited for Arthur’s Club; a formally experimental, inclusive theatrical experience that weaves key word signing into the storytelling throughout, so sign and spoken word are intrinsically linked. The Extraordinary Life of Steve Jobs (Puffin) was his first work of non-fiction.

In 2023, Craig introduced the world to Gina Kaminski, a bold autistic character who challenges traditional narratives by remixing and 'fixing' fairytales. Gina Kaminski Saves the Wolf (Little Tiger) was listed for Oscar’s Book Prize, the Diverse Book Awards, the UKLA Book Awards and the Inclusive Books for Children Award. It has also been selected for Empathy Lab’s Read For Empathy Collection, and Books for Topics Recommended books for Year 1. The sequel, Gina Kaminski Rescues the Giant (Little Tiger) was released in 2024.

Craig lives in Cornwall with his wife and children. He is obsessed with power ballads and wishes he was better at darts.
