Our Sustainable Fashion MA (Online) community recently came together with The Independent at London's Fashion & Textiles Museum for an event called 'Our Climate Present'– an immersive day of talks and workshops exploring actionable steps towards a more sustainable future.
The event featured a range of hands-on activities, including a repair workshop led by Bristol-based collective Rebel Patch, a participatory People’s Assembly led by activist group Fashion Act Now, and a thought-provoking lecture led by designer, researcher and founder of the London Urban Textiles Commons, Alice Holloway.
Course Leader Tom Crisp commented: “With 2024 projected to be the hottest year on record, it’s imperative we take collective action to respond to the climate emergency. We were excited to come together with The Independent for World Climate Day to deliver talks and workshops dedicated to how fashion can lessen its impact on the environment.”
