Surf Radio host shortlisted in Student Radio Awards

Television student and Surf Radio Station Manager, Tom Jackson, has been shortlisted in the Best Newcomer category of the Student Radio Awards, supported by BBC Sounds and Global.

Broadcast 24/7 online, Surf Radio is our student station, providing information, entertainment and news that’s relevant and accessible to Falmouth’s diverse student community.

Tom said: "I'm absolutely blown away by this nomination, being nominated for this award is an honour and recognises the work I've put in through Surf Radio's first year on the air! My work with Surf Radio has gone hand in hand with my studies on the BA Television course at Falmouth. I'm eager and excited to enter the industry once I graduate!"
 

Launched in September 2019 through two students’ love of podcasting, Surf Radio has grown to host a wide range of shows including short horror stories and a specialist rock show. 

The Student Radio Awards celebrate the best in student radio in the UK. Winners will be announced on 6 November when Tom could be following in the footsteps of BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show host Greg James.
