Creative Events Management graduate Zac Hancock has taken huge strides since graduating and established JAMZ, an exciting new creative production agency that’s already making its presence felt in the industry.

He set up JAMZ in collaboration with former co-workers at media agency Social Chain, Jodie Horne and Matt Pitman, and contacts from Dream Beach Media, Josh Stockdale and Alex Boulton. Their new venture will specialise in music, fashion and travel projects.

They’ve already completed some dream projects, including producing a world-first DJ set with multi-platinum DJ trio MEDUZA in partnership with Covert at the site of the famous Sólheimasandur plane wreckage in Iceland.

“Getting to such a remote part of Iceland was a huge logistical challenge. Furthermore, the question of powering and lighting an environment where there is nothing other than black volcanic rock, whilst being beaten by wind and sea spray made finding a day to shoot the video pretty challenging. For anyone who isn’t aware, in winter, Iceland receives about 5 hours of sunlight on a good day, and the weather can be pretty hostile!

All of that was happening whilst entertaining a multi-platinum DJ trio. But we were able to pull it off, and the final cuts are absolutely astonishing.”

After leaving Falmouth University and gaining experience in roles at more established agencies, Zac decided the best way to gain creative freedom was to set-up his own business. He says, “I learnt how important creative control is at Falmouth. Setting up our own business was an obvious, albeit challenging, way to achieve it.”

JAMZ was born out of a creativity crisis. Graduates will face their own challenges after an extremely difficult year. But Zac has some advice for students: “Don’t wait for anyone to give you permission. If you believe strongly in an idea - make small steps everyday towards your goal. No matter how small they are or how many excuses are available - there is always an opportunity, it's up to you to find it and make the most of it.”

Adrian Bossey, Head of Business and Experience Design at Falmouth University, sees Zac as an inspiration for current students. “It is fantastic to see recent Falmouth graduates operating as pioneers at the cutting edge of rapidly emerging digital event formats to help create the live events industry of the future.”
