Graduate Film Selected for Popular Film Fest
18 November 2019
Graduate Katie Lai has had her film screened at the Aesthetica Short Film Festival 2019.
Katie, who graduated with BA(Hons) Film this summer, saw her film, Tangled, in the Drama genre.
Katie said: "The crew and I were really surprised! We had a good time making this film and being selected by the board of Aesthetica into the official selection was a total bonus to us.
"Tangled is a story inspired by 'the red thread of fate' from my Asia cultural background. When shooting this film, the staff and lecturers supported us to make our production possible. I would like to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to my crew, School of Film & Television staff, friends and the Falmouth community that helped making Tangled happen. I like storytelling and I will continue to use film as my way to tell stories."
Head of Film Kingsley Marshall added: "This is a terrific achievement - Aesthetica receive something like 4000 short film submissions a year, and select about 10% of that. It's a BAFTA qualifying festival and one of the most prestigious for short films in the UK."
The Aesthetica Short Film Festival is an international film festival which takes place every November in York. It is a celebration of independent film from around the world, and an outlet for supporting and championing filmmaking.
