Falmouth School of Art: Research & Knowledge Exchange
The Falmouth School of Art hosts dynamic interdisciplinary research stemming from the disciplines of Fine Art, Illustration and Drawing utilising practice-based research and practice-led research, alongside a range of more orthodox research methodologies.
Research focus
The Falmouth School of Art conducts research that addresses global issues through innovative, experimental, interactive and material approaches. The School has established several key initiatives, including the Living Earth Multidisciplinary Research cluster, which is dedicated to exploring creative solutions to environmental problems, and the 'Narrative Futures' cluster, which focuses on the development of new narratives and storytelling techniques in various media. The Creative Pedagogies and Creativity for Health and Wellbeing clusters aim to enhance pedagogical approaches and to integrate creative practices with heritage and health.
Falmouth School of Art also hosts 'Test Space,' a project that facilitates collaborative work and critical dialogue among researchers to refine their projects. Furthermore, the school has supported 'Jewish Heritage and Lived Experience in Cornwall,' a project that enables students to produce animations about Cornish Jewish history, which will be incorporated into local school curricula. Through these initiatives, Falmouth School of Art seeks to promote sustainable development, interdisciplinary collaboration, and positive societal impact.
